Catching up with visual artist Pebofatso Mokoena
I caught up with Pebofatso Mokoena, a visual artist based in Joburg.
He's an impassioned artist known for his abstract paintings and printmaking.
Just 3 years after graduating from the University of Johannesburg, Pebofatso has contributed tremendously to the art world; with his work showing in various exhibitions & private collections including; the Springs Art Library Collection, the South African Embassy Art Collection in Washington, D.C. and in the Smithsonian Museum of African Art in Washington D.C.
Earlier this year Jillian Ross (master printmaker at David Krut) named Pebofatso as one of ‘6 local artists you should invest in now’.
Also quoted here: ‘The layering process of Pebo’s work holds surprising subtleties and depth. The images float in an unusual space and time.’
You can currently find Pebofatso’s work on artsy.net
As an artist his work ethic & intensity is inspiring. As a human his humility & clarity of thought is refreshing.
Here he is on self-expression, the evolution of his work and finding balance & zen.
