Waking up in a 'foreign land' but feeling at home
I definitely did my research before my trip to Ethiopia. If watching the movie 'Lamb', watching tons of youtube videos of the eskista dance and learning how to say 'hello and thank you' in Amharic counts as research.
Ethiopia is a very special place for us Africans, historically and politically. I am looking forward to learning more about the country, its people and its way of life while having copius amounts of injera.
I'm also fascinated by the Amharic language. It is the official language of the land, the second most spoken Semitic language in the world, after Arabic and can be traced back as far as the 1st milllenium BC.
Here's a taste of what the written language looks like. Insanely beautiful.
